Resident Permit Application Requirements
1. Valid Passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay.
Often must have at least 2 blank pages and 6 months of validity.
2. Completed Residence Permit Application Form
Each country has its own official form (e.g., Form 147 in Sweden, Application for Temporary Residence in Canada).
Must be filled out accurately and signed.
3. Passport-Sized Photographs
Recent photos (taken within 6 months).
Must meet specific size and background requirements of the country.
4. Purpose of Stay Documentation
Supporting documents depending on your reason for residency, such as:
Work: Job offer or employment contract
Study: Admission letter from a recognized institution
Family: Marriage/birth certificate or family reunion request
Investment: Proof of financial investment or business ownership
Asylum: Relevant documents to support the claim
5. Proof of Accommodation
Rental agreement, hotel booking, or letter from host.
Must show where you will live during your stay.
6. Proof of Sufficient Financial Means
Recent bank statements, employment letter, or sponsor letter.
Must show you can support yourself (and dependents, if applicable) during your stay.
7. Health Insurance
Proof of valid health insurance coverage in the host country.
Often required to cover emergency care, hospitalization, and repatriation.
8. Medical Examination (if required)
Certificate from an approved doctor confirming you're in good health.
Some countries require tuberculosis (TB) tests or vaccination records.
9. Police Clearance Certificate
Background check from your country of residence showing no criminal record.
Some countries may require it from every country you've lived in for the past 5+ years.
10. Visa or Entry Permit (if applicable)
Some countries require that you enter with a visa before applying for a residence permit.
Others allow switching to a residence permit from within the country.
11. Residence Permit Fee
Payable upon submission of the application.
Fees vary depending on the country and type of residence (temporary vs permanent).
